I hope everyone has an "Epic Year."

This photo was taken 12/30/03 at 12:41 p.m.
It is a view of Lake Ivanhoe with Downtown
Orlando in the background.
I was returning home from grocery shopping at Whole Foods Market
in Winter Park when I stopped to take the photo shown above.
It is about a 7 mile drive from my home to the store. Winter Park
has the only Whole Foods Market in the Orlando area. There don't
seem to be enough locals interested in a healthy lifestyle to support
more organic markets of any size. This Whole Foods is relatively
small. If you are ever in Santa Fe, New Mexico visit the Whole
Foods Market. It is HUGE...... What a wonderful store. The
population in Central Florida is around 1.5 million residents.
Santa Fe has 65-70,000 residents...... We have a long way to
go as far as Greening Up our lifestyle here in O-Towne.....

Web Cam

I added a new cam to my website. It is
My Window View Cam. I hooked up an
Axis 2100 Network Video Camera looking out my window
into the backyard. The foreground may include one of my
cats, usually sleeping. The cool thing about this camera
is that it does not require a computer to serve the video.
It has a built-in server running Linux.
Needless to say I haven't taken any photos this week.
My spare time has been spent on Research & Development.
I know, it is only for my web site but that is how
I taught myself how to use a computer, constantly trying
new things and usually failing the first few times.
Eventually it 'clicks', I learn something new and
then move on to the next project.
Currently I am trying to find the best way to hook a
wireless connection to the camera.

Apple Store

I decided to drive to the Apple Store at Mall of Millenia
this morning. Apple made some 'BIG" announcements
on Monday and I wanted to feel 'the buzz' first hand.
Before entering the store I took the above photo.
Actually it is 3 photos taken with my Canon Power
Shot S50 and then they were seamlessly stitched together.
Upon entering the store I stopped to listen.... very quiet.
No Buzzzzz......
A few customers, but it was still early, they had only been
open about 1/2 hour. I overheard someone say the new
Power Mac G5's would be arriving late August-early September.
The G5 is going to be an Awesome Computer.
I noticed that a computer I had purchased in late
April now cost $400 less. If I had only known.
No chance for a store credit. I do love the 12"
PowerBook but I feel ripped off.
$400 is a lot of money. Bad timing for me.
This past weekend was another cloudy, rainy
weekend in Central Florida. At least I have some
new photographs from the weekend.
That is always good and much appreciated.
Most of them are already printed. I really like them
and the "Epson 2200" printer produces a fantastic print.
At least it is still the same price.

Recuperating

I believe 'girlfriend' is feeling better. This photo
was taken about an hour ago and she seems comfortable.
Her tail had quite a hunk of fur bitten out of it.
No fur has been found. Jimy isn't talking and he doesn't
understand why he is being confined to the Living Room.
He doesn't realize it yet, but he is going to have to stay
there until her tail heals.
I watched the movie "Old School" Saturday Night.
Did this fall short or what? There were some funny bits
but you have to watch so much 'not funny' to get to the
funny stuff. Was it supposed to be a takeoff on
'Animal House?' It missed in my opinion.
Watched the "Spurs" win an NBA Championship on Sunday.
Would have been nice to see a Game 7 on Wednesday.
Enjoyed The Red Seal Ale during the Game. I liked it as
much as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
Today I Purchased a Canon Power Shot S50. The above
photo of 'Girlfriend' was the first photo taken.
So far I like. The original photo was a jpeg,
about 1.5 mb at 180 dpi. The camera shoots a
RAW File (a larger File), so that is probably the
way I will use it.
An afternoon thunderstorm just passed by. We had .27 inches
of rain in the backyard.

Saturday Morning
I worried all night about 1 of my cats. Late last night
Jimy the Cat bit Girlfriend the Cat in the tail. Blood all
over the kitchen floor. Now Jimy is exiled to the
living room with Scruff the cat and Girlfriend is
recuperating in the TV room with Hopper the Cat.
She seems to be doing fine no thanks to Jimy.
I thought he was getting along with her.
But that was a plain outright assault.
She made the mistake of thinking they were
finally friends and let her guard down.
Jimy can be very sneaky. Lulling you into a
false sense of friendship, meanwhile he silently
waits around the corner to make his pounce
as you come along unaware that he is waiting.
Jimy can be so sweet and appreciative. I am
so disappointed in him.
Anyway, everything seems to be better this morning.
I went to Whole Foods Market to pick up a few things.
Looking through the Beer Cooler I asked about Red
Seal Ale. It came highly recommended so I am
going to try some tonight. It is made by North Coast
Brewing located along the Mendocino Coast of California.
I usually drink Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
I miss the Brew Pubs in the Western States.
Il Vicino in Albuquerque was one of my favorite
places for Beer and Pizza. They brewed
some of the best beer I have ever tasted.
I was reading the July issue of New Mexico Magazine
and noticed a 10 day Photo Arts Fesival in Santa Fe,
July 11-20 2003. I wish I could be there.
Santa Fe is wonderful in any season.

Today
The Printer is printing a new image just taken today.
I added a new category to 'The Gallery' called
"Drivin' Around." I had to be on the road this
morning and always travel with the Canon S30 so
we had some fun 'drivebyes.' It really is kind of
interesting to capture an image from the car.
The photographs fascinate me. Usually the World
goes by at 30-40 mph, now I get to look at a
photographic moment in time without the worry
of watching the road. It is amazing the speed
of the shutter. 125 photographs might only
make a second in real time. 125 image-moments
in time. Driving, walking, standing. One second
in time. A lifetime of photographts could only be
one hour in time. Maybe more, maybe less.
How important each and every second of
our life is worth. You could create a whole
exhibition in 10 seconds of shutter time.
Anyway, I think I might do some more
'Drivin Around' photos tomorrow.
All of todays photos were taken in Orlando
and Winter Park, Florida. I live in Orlando,
grew up in Winter Park. A Big City and a
small City side by side.

Photo Log

I have been busy working on the new photo log
which is named the gallery.
The photograph above is a view of downtown
Orlando on Friday, June 06, at 7:24 a.m.
It has been a very rainy weekend in Central Florida.
Hot, Humid, Cloudy.
The 'beat' continues with the construction
on both sides of my home. I feel sandwiched
between two, three story walls that
protect an interior living space. It has been
more than a year and the hammers will be
pounding nails just after first light tomorrow.

Photos
I am not sure if these are the photos I will use.
They will be changed often. The great thing
about the internet is the images can be uploaded
soon after they have been captured on disk.
It has been a long day. Time to watch a movie
and drink some wine.
g'day.

First Day
Today is the first day for sharpephotography.com. I am testing the web log.
